About Greencastle Housing Authority (Putnam County HA)

The Greencastle Housing Authority was formed by a resolution of the Common Counsel of the City of Greencastle, Indiana in September of 1980 in accordance with the Federal and State law. The Authority is controlled by a Board of seven Commissioners who are appointed to four year terms by the Mayor of the City of Greencastle. One Commissioner must be a consumer. The Board of Commissioners employs an Executive Director to oversee and conduct Housing Authority business. The Executive Director hires and supervises a staff to conduct the work of the Authority in accordance with the policies and directives of the Board of Commissioners.

Greencastle Housing Authority administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program of Putnam County, Indiana and owns and leases Northview Apartments, a subsidized apartment complex.

The Greencastle Housing Authority's mission is to serve our community's housing needs using all available resources and to manage those resources efficiently; in assisting low income families obtain affordable, safe, decent and sanitary housing within our jurisdiction.
